NetSuite 2024.2 Release: Most Useful Features

The latest release brings several exciting updates that promise to enhance user experience, boost productivity and streamline operations. Here are the most useful features that I believe will be useful based on my understanding and testing.

New user roles

NetSuite has introduced new roles that allow the organization to use as per their needs. Let’s breakdown what is new in the 2024.2 release
  1. Specialized User: CRM and View & Approve- This one is perfect for the sales, marketing and customer support people. It gives them access to all the CRM tools that they need.
  2. Specialized User: View and Approve- Users with this role can do basic tasks such as viewing or approving of records. This role is ideal for the employees who require access to one specific area of the system.
The benefit of these roles allows customers to avoid paying for full licenses for employees who only need limited access. Leading to a more efficient and economical user management.

Electronic payment Suite App

NetSuite has updated its Electronic Payment Suite App in the latest release which makes managing payment easier and more efficient

We can now filter transactions by amount range, which helps you find exactly what you need. The approval process for payment batches has also been improved. Now, either the approver or someone with the approver's role can approve. Plus, there's a new reminder email system for pending approvals, so nothing falls behind. Another addition is the ability to apply credits to transactions on their due date. Finally the a solution has been offered to apply term discounts to the full transaction amount instead of only the net-transaction amount.

If your organization uses electronic payments, you'll love these updates. They make financial tasks smoother and help you manage cash more effectively in NetSuite.

Redwood Visual Design

rOacle NetSuite has introduced a new UI in this release. To me comparing with the old UI, Redwood brings a fresh new look which makes visually appealing for the user eyes. It offers new color, icons and fonts for the page header, forms, lists and dashboard.

In the new release, one of the coolest features what attracted me is that body field headers in the forms or records can be expanded or collapsed which can be a time saver for the users. With the help of this functionality, you can focus on the information you need without scrolling unnecessary fields.

NetSuite plans to extend this design update to custom records in future releases.

It's my recommendation to enable this new design for all users in your organization already, as it will be pushed by NetSuite in the next release and replace the current interface.

Exporting Pivot table into XLSX format

NetSuite's latest update brings exciting news for SuiteAnalytics users. You can now export pivot tables from workbooks directly to XLSX format. This new feature makes data analysis easier and reduces the need for outside tools. However, there's one limitation: you can't edit the exported XLSX file directly. The data exports exactly as the pivot table as it appears in SuiteAnalytics. If you need to make changes, you'll have to go back to the original workbook.

Apart from this limitation, new release solves many previous issues with SuiteAnalytics. It's a big step forward, allowing businesses to work more efficiently within NetSuite. Overall, this new export option is a welcome addition that streamlines data management for NetSuite users.
